You can upgrade the operating system of a Plesk server in two ways:

  • Migrate your Plesk server to a server running a more up-to-date OS version using Plesk Migrator.

  • Perform dist-upgrade.

We recommend that you use migration because dist-upgrade is not a simple process. Performing dist-upgrade requires considerable system administration experience and the knowledge of the operating system and its components.

We do not recommend performing dist-upgrade together with Plesk updates. Update Plesk to the latest available version before performing dist-upgrade.
